JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility: Age Limit, Educational Qualification, Number of Attempts

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility: IIT Kanpur will publish the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2025 on the official website, jeeadv.nic.in. The JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria will include factors such as JEE Main rank,  educational qualifications, age limit, and more. It is essential for candidates to review these criteria before submitting their JEE Advanced 2025 application form. The JEE Advanced 2024 exam took place on 26 May 2024.

To be eligible, OCI/PIO candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 qualifiers in JEE Main. Additionally, candidates must meet the JEE Advanced eligibility criteria provided in this article to participate in the exam.

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility for Foreign Nationals

Candidates who are not Indian citizens (by birth or naturalisation) are considered foreign nationals. These candidates are not included in the OCI/PIO category. The JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria for foreign nationals is as follows:

  • Foreign nationals do not need to take JEE Main 2025. They can directly register for JEE Advanced 2025, provided they meet all other eligibility requirements, such as education qualification, age, and maximum No. of JEE Advanced attempts.

  • Foreign nationals are considered separately from the 2,50,000 Indian candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced. 

  • Seats for foreign nationals are additional and capped at 10% of the total seats in each course. These seats are not subject to reservation categories such as GEN-EWS, ST, SC, OBC-NCL, and PwD.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2025 for OCI/PIO Candidates

Candidates residing in foreign countries who obtained their OCI/PIO card before 4 March 2021 are included in this category. These candidates are considered Indian nationals for taking the JEE Advanced exam.

OCI/PIO candidates must be listed in the Open or Open-PwD rank lists of JEE (Main) 2025 to qualify for JEE (Advanced) 2025. Those holding an OCI/PIO card must meet the eligibility criteria mentioned  below: 

  • JEE (Main) Performance

  • Number of Attempts

  • Age Limit

  • Class 12 Examination

  • Previous IIT Admission

Failure to meet any of these requirements will result in disqualification from JEE Advanced 2025.

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria Based on JEE Main Marks 

To be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025, candidates must meet specific criteria related to their performance in JEE Main 2024. Here are the ranks and the category-wise selection of candidates:

  • JEE Main Qualification: Candidates must pass JEE Main 2024 (Paper 1) and secure a rank among the top 2,50,000 scorers.

  • Category-wise Selection Percentage: The category-wise selection of candidates according to their categories is as follows:

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Number of Attempts Permitted

Candidates are allowed to take the JEE Advanced exam up to two times within a span of two consecutive years. Candidates who registered for JEE Advanced 2024 but did not attend the exam will have the opportunity to participate in JEE Advanced 2025. However, no candidate may sit for the JEE Advanced exam more than twice in any two-year period.

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Age Limit 

JEE Advanced 2025 age limit requires candidates to be born on or after 1 October 2000. However, there is an age relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to ST, SC, and PwD categories. Therefore, candidates belonging to reserved categories must be born on or after 1 October 1995 to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025. JEE Advanced age limit 2025 is a crucial aspect of registering and attempting the exam.

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Class 12 Qualification

Candidates who have qualified for class Class 12 or an equivalent examination in 2024 or will attempt the exam in 2025 are eligible for the JEE Advanced Exam 2025. JEE Advanced 2025 qualification required for class 12 also necessitated candidates to have subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, and any other subject. Candidates belonging to other subject streams are not eligible for the JEE Advanced exam.

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Prior Admissions at IITs

Candidates who have already been admitted to IIT or ISM are not eligible to take the JEE Advanced 2025 exam. This restriction applies even if the candidate was admitted but later rejected or expelled, regardless of the reason. However, candidates who began a preparatory course at any IIT for the first time in 2024 are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025.

Those who were allocated a seat in any IIT through JoSAA 2024 will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025, provided they did not:

  • Report to the official reporting centre or online,

  • Withdraw before the final round of seat allocation or

  • Cancel their admission before the final round of seat allocation.
