NEET 2025: Students' new NCERT books will be useful for your NEET 2024 preparation. This is because the National Medical Commission has revised the syllabus, cutting out 9 chapters from Chemistry and 6 chapters from Biology.

  • The Chemistry chapters removed are: State of Matter, Hydrogen, The s-Block Elements, Environmental Chemistry, The Solid State, Surface Chemistry, General Principles & Processes of Isolation of Elements, Polymers, and Chemistry in Everyday Life.

  • In Biology, the removed chapters are: Transport in Plants, Mineral Nutrition, Digestion and Absorption, Reproduction in Organisms, Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production, and Environmental Issues.

Some new subtopics have also been added to different chapters. This makes the new NCERTs important for both NEET and JEE preparation, as the JEE syllabus has also been updated similarly.

However, if you can easily borrow old NCERTs from seniors or save online copies, keep them handy. They might help you in solving problems in a more selective way.

Is the NCERT sufficient for the NEET 2025?

Are you wondering if NCERT is enough for NEET 2025? Let’s break it down subject-wise. It can be confusing, but don’t worry. Let's go through each subject to see what works best for your preparation.

Physics:

For physics, rely on your class notes and coaching materials. NCERT physics can be tricky if you’re not strong in the basics. Focus on mastering your class notes, coaching modules, and previous year questions (PYQs) first. After that, you can turn to NCERT. You don’t need to memorize everything, just go through the theory a couple of times and pay attention to the diagrams. Diagrams are important! The 12th NCERT is especially important for chapters like semiconductors, atoms, and EM waves. Make sure to solve NCERT exercises and examples to check your understanding. NEET 2025 might be tougher than NEET 2024, so be prepared for challenging questions.

Inorganic Chemistry:

NCERT is essential for inorganic chemistry. Ignoring it until the last minute can be a big mistake. Make sure to read it thoroughly and create short notes, especially for sections like the p-block. Regular study is key. Take notes on the factual details and applications of elements and compounds. Keep track of all trends in a separate notebook. Practice PYQs regularly to get familiar with the important details. This is a very important part of your preparation, so don’t skip it.

Organic Chemistry:

Organic chemistry is about understanding concepts and memorizing reagents, reactions, and intermediates. The key to mastering organic chemistry is practice. Start by solving questions with your class notes by your side. Once you feel confident, try solving questions without them. Then, focus on NCERT. Is NCERT enough? Yes, if you understand the logic behind each concept. Make sure to solve the in-text questions, examples, and exercises in NCERT multiple times. Practice sequence reaction and conversion questions—they’ll help solidify your understanding.

Physical Chemistry:

For physical chemistry, focus on your class notes and practice questions from coaching materials. Go through the NCERT examples as well. Work on improving your calculation speed by doing random calculations regularly. Learn all the important formulas from your class notes, and read NCERT for theoretical topics like cells, batteries, and redox reactions. This method should work well for your preparation.

Biology:

NCERT is the most important resource for biology. You’ll need to go through it multiple times, paying special attention to the diagrams. These diagrams can appear directly in the exam, so don’t skip them. Also, learn the basic details of every scientist mentioned at the start of each unit, as questions can come from this section. For extra practice, you can look into other resources, but NCERT should always be your main focus.

NEET is challenging, but with consistent effort and the right preparation, you’ll succeed. Stay focused, practice regularly, and don’t give up. Remember to take care of your health too.

Note: Keep revising your notes, practicing PYQs, and stay determined. You’ve got this! Best of luck for NEET 2025.
