NEET Cut-Off 2023: The National Testing Agency has released the NEET Cut-Off 2023 on its official website, neet.nta.nic.in. This NEET 2024 Cut-Off information is crucial for aspirants, as it signifies the minimum qualifying percentiles required for eligibility in the NEET-UG 2023 examination.

Following the result declaration, NTA has provided detailed NEET cut-off scores for each category, outlining the minimum percentile thresholds for aspirants to be considered for admission. Aspirants can explore the influencing factors and gain insights into the official NEET 2023 cut-off discussed on this page.

NEET 2023 Cut off scores differ for various categories: The cutoff range for the general category is 720-137; for the SC/ST/OBC category, it is 136-107, for the general-PH category, it stands at 136-121, and for the SC/ST/OBC-PH category, it is specified as 120-107.

Understanding the NEET cut-off score is crucial, as it represents the minimum mark required for qualifying for the medical entrance test. The NEET cut-off typically includes two types - admission cut-off and qualifying cut-off. The qualifying score is the minimum mark a candidate must achieve to pass the exam, while the admission cut-off denotes the last rank for admission eligibility.

NEET Cut Off 2023 Qualifying V/S Admission Cut-Off

Students can refer to the following table to understand the difference between the NEET Qualifying Cutoffs and NEET Admission Cut Offs.

NEET Qualifying V/S Admission Cut Off

The NTA releases NTA Qualifying Marks along with the result

The MCC releases the NEET Admission Cut Off for 15% AIQ counselling and the respective state authorities for 85% State Quota Counselling

NEET Qualifying or Passing Marks are the minimum score and percentile required to qualify NEET UG exam.

NEET Admission Cut Off is considered as  last rank at which admission is granted in the respective medical colleges

NEET Qualifying Cut-off is released category-wise but not institute-wise.

NEET Admission Cut Off is released both category-wise and institute-wise

Admission to medical colleges is not granted on the basis of the qualifying NEET Cut Offs. These marks are used only to shortlist the qualified candidates eligible to participate in NEET UG Counselling.

Admissions to the medical colleges are granted based on the admission Cut-Offs only.

NEET Cut-Off 2023 Tie-Breaking Policy

If two or more candidates achieve identical scores, their order of merit ranking is determined based on the following criteria in the specified order of precedence:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with superior scores or percentiles in Biology (Botany and Zoology) for inclusion in the NEET merit list.

  • In cases where a tie persists, the candidate's performance in Chemistry, as reflected by higher marks or percentiles, will be considered.

  • If a tie still exists, candidates with fewer incorrect and correct attempted answers will be ranked higher.

  • Aspirants can review the NEET last rank, round by round, on which admission is granted during the admission process.

NEET Cut Off 2023 FAQs

Q1. What is the significance of the qualifying percentile in the NEET cut-off?

Ans: The NEET 2023 cutoff represents the minimum qualifying percentile candidates must achieve to pass the entrance test.

Q2. Could the NEET 2023 cutoff be reduced?

Ans: The NEET 2023 cutoff may be lowered if a sufficient number of candidates fail to attain the minimum qualifying percentile.

Q3. If a candidate qualifies for NEET, does that guarantee eligibility for the counselling process?

Ans: Candidates who qualify for the NEET exam will be eligible to participate in the counselling process. However, it's important to note that mere qualification does not guarantee admission to a medical or dental seat.

Q4. Why does the NEET Cut-off percentile remain constant while the Cut-off marks vary annually?

Ans: The NEET Cut-off percentile is set at the 50th percentile for unreserved category candidates and the 40th percentile for reserved category candidates. The percentile is determined based on the relative scores of all candidates in the exam, leading to variations in corresponding marks each year due to differing candidate performances.

Q5. Is scoring equal to or above the NEET cutoff score sufficient for state quota seat counselling eligibility?

Ans: Eligibility for state quota seats depends on the specific requirements set by state counselling authorities. While candidates must secure at least the NEET 2023 cutoff marks, additional criteria, such as domicile requirements, may also apply.

Q6. Will the NEET cutoff for 2023 remain valid in the subsequent academic year?

Ans: No, the result of NEET is valid for one year only. Consequently, the NEET 2023 cutoff will only apply to admissions in the academic year corresponding to that specific examination.
