Will JEE 2025 be Tougher: In the past 5 years, the difficulty level of JEE Main questions has gradually decreased. Additionally, the number of registrations has increased from 11’47,125 in 2019 to 14,15,110 in 2024. The decrease in challenge level and increase in candidates’ registration resulted in NTA setting a very high cut off score to select deserving candidates.

Due to the reduction of JEE difficulty level, NTA faced criticism from various organisations and political parties in India. Additionally, a high cut off score prevented many deserving candidates from securing a seat at top engineering institutes in 2024. Considering these aspects, it is expected that NTA will increase the JEE 2025 difficulty level.

JEE 2025 Toughness Prediction

JEE Main 2025 will be conducted in two sessions, once in January and again in April. Prospective candidates have a common concern, “is JEE 2025 harder than previous exams”.

Following previous years’ trends of JEE Main exam, it is expected that the cut off score will increase, wrestling in a highly competitive selection process. Additionally, more candidates will register for JEE 2025, which will further increase the difficulty level of the exam.

The table below presents previous years’ JEE question paper difficulty level:

Will JEE 2025 be Tough?

Besides looking at the challenge level of the JEE question paper, it is also essential to understand the registration trends. Generally, an increase in registration increases the difficulty level of the exam and selection process, while a decrease in registration reduces JEE competitiveness.

To provide an answer to the question, “will JEE 2025 be tough?” here is an overview of JEE registration trends over the past 5 years:

JEE Registration Trends

Year

No. of Registration

JEE Test Takers

2020

10,23,000

2021

2023

11,62,398

11,13,032

2024

14,76,557

14,15,110

As presented in the above table, the number of JEE registrations has increased in the past few years. Therefore, it is expected that in 2025, more candidates will apply and appear for the JEE Main exam, which will make the exam highly challenging to crack.

Reason for Increase of JEE 2025 Exam Difficulty

The main reason for the increasing difficulty level of the JEE exam is the availability of limited seats for B.Tech at NITs and IITs compared to the number of applicants. Presently, there are around 17,835 seats in IITs and 23,954 seats in NITs across India. Even if NTA increases the number of seats in these institutes, it will be far less compared to JEE applicants.

In addition, NTA aims to select the most deserving candidates for admission to IITs and NITs. For this, it will set a challenging question paper so that only those candidates who have a solid command of key concepts and have excellent problem solving skills are able to crack the exam.

With the increase in the JEE challenge level, candidates must strengthen their preparation strategy to excel in the exam with good marks.  PW Gulf JEE Online Coaching aims to provide comprehensive syllabus coverage under the guidance of the best faculties.
