JEE 2024: The Ministry of Education has issued an official notification regarding the restructuring of the board structure and administrative framework of the JEE Apex Board (JAB). This reconstitution is aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the board's operations in organising the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
The JEE Exam is instrumental in helping students gain admission to undergraduate engineering programs in institutions such as IITs, NITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs).
The decision to reconstitute the JEE Apex Board was made with the primary goal of ensuring the seamless administration of the JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced) examinations for the years 2024 and 2025.
Introduction to JEE Mains 2024
The Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main), consists of two papers. Paper 1 is held to determine eligibility for Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions/Universities supported or recognized by participating State Governments.
Additionally, JEE (Main) serves as a qualifying exam for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2, on the other hand, is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning programs across the nation.
Who Will Conduct JEE Mains 2024?
According to the notification released by the Ministry of Education, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will be responsible for managing all software-related support and back-end activities for both pre and post-examination processes, including the online submission of application forms for JEE Exam 2024. The official notice mentioned that NTA may collaborate with NIC/C-DAC as needed.

The board will also consist of representatives from the state governments of Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab Engineering College, the Chairman of CBSE, the Director General of NIC, NTA, and C-DAC.
Additionally, the Additional Secretary/Joint Secretary (TE) of the Ministry of Education will serve as a member of the board. The official notice also mentions that the Joint Admission Board (JAB) will have a permanent secretariat provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
JAB will be assisted by the JEE Interface Group, comprising five members selected from NTA, IITs, and a senior representative from the Indian Statistical Institutes (ISI) appointed by the Joint Apex Board.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Education has declared that JEE Apex Board will now serve as the ultimate authority for formulating policies, rules, and regulations for the administration of JEE (Main) examinations. It will also collaborate with the organising institution for JEE (Advanced).
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will offer administrative and logistical support for the nationwide conduct of JEE (Main). The permanent secretariat of the Joint Admission Board (JAB), situated within NTA, will utilise existing infrastructure, financial resources amassed since the inception of the first JAB, and the workforce provided by the present JEE (Main) unit.
In case of necessity, including the appointment of an Executive Director, the notice indicates that a small number of new positions will be created as per Cabinet/CEE approval and actual requirements.
