How Many Marks Are Required To Clear JEE Mains 2025: The JEE Main 2025 Session 1 results will tentatively be announced in April 2025. Following the result release NTA will publish the category-wise marks to pass the JEE Mains exam 2025. Candidates who meet the JEE Main passing marks requirement will be eligible to seek admission to participating institutes.

To qualify for the Common Rank List (CRL), candidates need to secure a minimum of 90 marks in JEE Main 2025. However, for the EWS category, the qualifying marks are anticipated to be 80, while candidates from the OBC-NCL category must score at least 76. Similarly, the minimum qualifying marks for the ST and SC categories are expected to be 46 and 57, respectively. Additionally, aspirants scoring 250 or more in JEE Main will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

How Many Marks Are Required To Clear JEE Mains 2025?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the marks required to clear the JEE Main 2025 exam. The qualifying score is presented as a percentile, which reflects a candidate's performance in comparison to other test takers. For example, an NTA score of 95 percentile indicates that the candidate has outperformed 95% of the total participants in the exam.

The percentile system plays a crucial role in determining the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced and securing admission to top engineering institutions. By analysing JEE past year cut-off trends and qualifying marks, candidates can better understand their target scores and refine their preparation strategies for JEE Main 2025.

JEE Main 2025 Passing Marks

Key Factors Affecting JEE Main 2025 Passing Marks

To successfully pass the exam, candidates must achieve a score that meets or exceeds the cut-off requirements. NTA considers various factors for determining the qualifying marks for JEE Main. These are as follows:

  • Total Number of Candidates: The number of candidates taking the JEE Main exam significantly affects the cut-off marks as more candidates increase the competitiveness of the exam. Therefore, if more candidates take the JEE Main exam, the cut-off score is generally high.

  • Exam Difficulty: A tougher exam could lead to lower cut-off marks, while an easier one might result in higher marks.

  • Seat Availability: The number of available seats in the JEE Main participating institutes directly impacts the cut-off. Thus, with limited seats in colleges, the cut-off score is generally high or vice-versa.

  • Trends from Previous Year Cutoffs: The trends observed in past years’ JEE Main cut-offs also play a significant role in determining the current year’s qualifying marks.

  • Candidate Category: Different categories of candidates (General, SC, ST, OBC, etc.) have varying qualifying criteria, with the general category having the highest cut-off.

JEE Main 2025 Passing Marks to Qualify for JEE Advanced

To be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025, candidates need to meet the required passing marks for JEE Main 2025. The cut-off marks for this qualification will vary based on the candidate’s category. The top 2,50,000 students who appear for JEE Main will be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam. Further, the candidates who qualify for the JEE Advanced exam will be selected for admission to IITs and NITs.
